





IKEA is spreading the gospel of democratic design across the globe through its more than 300 stores spread across 25 countries, together with a rapidly expanding internet presence. IKEA’s belief is that everyone has the right to a better everyday life, and their commitment to democratic design is the means to achieve that.
George was briefed to incorporate democratic design pieces to create a vibrant window scheme at the “Order and Collection Point” store’s windows in Stratford. George embraced a monochrome colour pallet, being heavily inspired by the GÖRLÖSE rug.

Using the black and white staples as a starting point, George expanded the striped pattern throughout, even painting a lowest price point chest of draws to correspond to the scheme. Finally, George suspending cushions above the windows to utilise the height and draw in more attention. Black and white is anything but boring!

For many the festive countdown starts when Selfridges opens ‘Destination Christmas’, as the curtains are pulled back to reveal the Christmas themed windows and in-store, the “elfridges” can be found. On the canopy, the two-tonne installation bears the title ‘Destination Christmas’, establishing Selfridges as the ultimate one-stop-shop for customer’s festive needs.
