GEORGE

ABOUT

After gaining an NVQ in Graphic Design, George progressed to study BA in Fashion Design and Communication at Middlesex University, graduating with a 2:1 in 2012.

Whilst studying for his degree, George was required to seek and undertake a period of work experience within a field of the fashion industry. George clinched an internship with the world-renowned milliner Philip Treacy, which after graduation resulted in the offer of a full-time position of employment.

Although working within the PR department for Treacy, George was fascinated with the artesian of hats. Both George’s Grandmothers had been skilled seamstresses prior to retirement, so he learnt how to sew from a young age. George credits his Grandmother as being a huge inspiration and influence on his career.

This environment allowed George to gain invaluable insight into both contemporary fashion and the world of haute couture and sparked his interest in millinery, which led him to create two of his own headwear collections.

In 2013 George entered the Alpha Romeo Young Designer of the Year competition, which he later went on to win.

George knew he did not want to peruse a full-time career as a milliner alone, but enjoyed the creative freedom headwear design gave him, which endures in his career to this day.

After working for Tracey, George went on to land his first visual job at Oka, Chelsea and has since been working in retail design and the wider field of visual communication.

George considers himself to be a multidisciplinary creative and design orientated professional, with advanced experience in Autocad, Sketchup and Adobe Creative Suite, which enable his practical yet eye-catching solutions to come to life.

George’s experience stretches across a wide variety of areas including window design and in-store displays, product merchandising, pop up, events styling, headpieces and attire construction.

As a curious and pioneering designer, George is keen to explore the next chapter in his creative journey.
