Art is an important part of our everyday lives; it triggers emotions, sparks conversations and overall, it enriches us as human beings. For April 2017, the third instalment of the Art Event consisted of a limited-edition poster collection, curated by twelve carefully hand-selected international artists, all of which express themselves through the means of illustration.
George was tasked with creating and implementing an innovate environment to showcase the eclectic and diverse range of artworks for sale. Opting for an art gallery aesthetic, George used a monochrome colour pallet for the space, predominantly white, to create a void like atmosphere in which the art could be experienced without superfluous distractions. To inject a sense of fun into the area various abstract motifs featured in the works were selected and drawn in marker outside of the frames, helping to bring the diverse collection to life within their surroundings.

IKEA may be most famous for flat-pack furniture, but the brand also has a big thing for art. Since 2015, everyone's favourite Swedish retailer has collaborated with contemporary artists and designers globally to create limited-edition collections that celebrate various expressions of art, different genres and crafts. Dubbed the IKEA Art Event, the company uses this as an opportunity to “democratise” art, making it more accessible and functional to people all over the world.
