To explain, a “Vitality Area” is a key visual merchandising technique used throughout IKEA’s retail locations, commonly used to promote a certain furnishing trend or to create an inspirational area featuring a specific product. This concept proved very successful at showcasing IKEA’s range in exciting settings relevant to an event or local occasion.

Visual merchandising and store design go hand in hand when influencing consumer behaviour. Visual draughts need to be planned meticulously, setting out a precise vision of the customer’s needs.

George can propose layouts though analysing sale reports, create bespoke themes based on engagement and produce memorable visual points of interest, which achieve the ultimate aim of increasing customer engagement and driving more sales.

George can imagine exclusive retail brand atmospheres from the initial concept stage right through to 3D visuals, before bringing his vision to life in the store.

Consumer demands are forever changing, and the retail industry must evolve accordingly by providing unique and relatable shopping environments designed with passion. If you need a fresh approach to your brand’s visual strategy to enhance your customer’s experience, then get in touch.

Bespoke installations or multi-store design, every window display is unique and imagined to inspire potential customers. Windows act as a gateway to the customer’s journey in the store, setting the scene for what is to come by dazzling the senses.

George has been creating memorable, innovative and engaging window displays for premier retailers for over a decade, capturing the intense experience that show-stopping window displays and distinctive visual merchandising schemes should induce in the customers.

As the title suggests, the store’s target audience for this September 2017 campaign was University students, be they fresher heading off to university for the first time or a returning undergraduate eager to kit out their new student accommodation. The main product selected by the departmental manager to be showcased was the ever so handy FJÄLLA storage box, and so George set about theorising ideas and composing a list of complementary IKEA products to enhance the display.

Thinking back to his own university life, George recalled that movable, multi-purpose furniture was a big help. A flexible lamp is a portable necessity for reading anywhere. A room divider with castors can double up as storage and decoration; on which to clip photos of memorable nights out, or to hang items like impulsive retail purchases. An alarm clock, pint glass and coffee flask need no explanation.  George always kept in his mind how higher education students organise their life around moving, exams, deadlines and of course that perennial student activity, partying.

Once the list of complementary IKEA products has been compiled, George moved on to the design process which included detailed AutoCAD floor plans, carpentry dimensions and SketchUp visuals. Last came the exciting task of creating and installing a visually compelling display to bring the brief to life, thus educating students on the endless possibilities IKEA’s unique products offer.
